Tutorials and Laboratories : Operating framework

Tutorials

 1. Goals:

The tutorial’s purpose is to make the problems and methods of an actual study conditions and/or research known to the students, taking advantage of the stepping stones that result from the course’s theory and workshop. At the same time, it allows the development of academic skills that either haven’t been developed in the student’s course so far, either it is necessary for them to reroute, starting from a new base. (ex critical reading, bibliography overview, documentary processes etc.)

 2. Content

The tutorial focuses on the emergence and use of specific theoretical or practical tools relevant to the subject. The tools’ dual meaning (theoretical and practical) derives from the given scientific environment. And that is due to the fact that models and applications that come from this environment, for different matters (collecting evidence, classification, research, information storage, preservation, analysis, composition, editing, presentation, communication, coding, producing etc) are not only implemented in empirical and theoretical schemes but also in specific applications.

 3 Realization:

Realization is based on the triptych model: schedule, organization and evaluation.

Scheduling is part of the general lesson planning and it conforms not only in the theory and workshop frameworks but also the Department’s wide curriculum framework, that leads to specific education and research planning.

The organization must secure the use of infrastructures (material and academic) related to the course and subject that are at the student’s disposal. It must also promote the frugality of choices that make the synchronized function of these infrastructures towards achieving a specific goal possible.

Evaluation, as the final stage of utilizing the tutorial, is based on a system of indicating the students’ performance but also other qualitative and quantitative stabilities that are considered useful for fulfilling the tutorial.

 4. Activities

In order to make a tutorial draft easier, the actions that can be realized are codified according to the list below. Of course, it is not considered finite but it constantly increases and it is corrected according to the current techniques and cognitive conditions and developments.
